Introducing Winston-Salem from A to Z

Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is chock full of incredible people, exciting places, and a rich history that make it extra special. Explore the region through the eyes of local children and learn about all the things that make Winston-Salem such an amazing place. Written in 2012 by local sixth grader, Paige McDowell, Winston-Salem from A to Z is filled with historical facts and fun trivia about the place she calls home. Young readers will enjoy the rhyming story and colorful illustrations while older students will undoubtedly learn a thing or two about the city. The illustrations were created by patients of Wake Forest Baptist Health Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem.

The production of this book was sponsored by the Friends of Brenner Children's Hospital with support from the Bunn family as well as Charlie Hemrick and the Sam N. Carter and Pauline H. Carter Fund of The Winston-Salem Foundation. Royce and Harriet Hough, who brought the idea to the Friends, served as the project's honorary chairmen. All sales proceeds will benefit patient programs at Brenner Children's Hospital.
